Junior Tennis Programme

We are instituting a new junior programme, and we want your involvement at our parents' social evening in September. By then we will have in place our preliminary plans—plans that continue to promote family participation, to nurture talent and to promote enjoyment of the game. They include regular juniors-only Saturday morning coaching sessions with Pete Rutland and after-school sessions in February/March and September/October with Elaina Forland. Saturday morning coaching and school-holiday tennis camps with Elaina will continue, as will opportunities for juniors in the summer and winter teams. We will, of course, run the Lack Cup every summer. Other regular competitions are planned.

To contribute to the junior programme please see Pete Rutland or Elaina Forland.

Coaching

We aim to develop players in the long-term and encourage all our juniors to take professional instruction. Like the Lawn Tennis Association we maintain that correct technique and sound understanding of the game require competent coaching. With this in mind, we are pleased that on Saturday mornings Elaina Forland (tel. 077899 61142) is coaching our juniors. (See Saturday morning coaching times.) Elaina also runs junior LTA-approved tennis camps during Harrow School's holidays. Sessions must be booked.

Teams

We offer our juniors social and competitive tennis as well as professional coaching. We aim, with help from volunteer parents, to satisfy our juniors' competitive instincts and to improve their LTA ratings. We run Under 16, Under 13 and Under 8 teams, and we organize individual matches with local clubs. Please see Elaina Forland (tel: 077899 61142) for details.

Our Under 8's had its Harrow LTC Under 8's

first match on May 8, 2010 at Ravens LTC in Finchley. Our team won the tie 18 sets to 14. Everyone enjoyed him- or herself and can't wait to play again.

Child Protection

For the protection of children and for parents' peace of mind, Harrow LTC complies with the LTA's Child Protection Practice. (See also Guidance for Parents.) We ask that parents enrolling their children (under 17) for coaching or allowing them unaccompanied use of the courts complete and sign a child registration form. It includes a consent clause that permits us to call for medical assistance if needed. Carole Bellringer, our nominated child protection officer, will deal with any enquires.
